I created a website that contains a collection of various resources, including food pantries, community fridges, and mutual aid organizations around the city for those who are food-insecure. This site allows users to input their own resources that they have found to share with others. I used API plug-ins for the maps, so when users fill out the form on a Send Us A Tip page, their suggestions get outputted to the API maps. I used the same grid system throughout the website and came up with a type system for titles, subtitles, and body copy.

Coding this website was a challenge because I had to figure out how to use the API maps. I had to work through the logic of how to get user inputs to show up on the map, so I had the answers from the website form output to Google Sheets, which I connected to the API map.

This is a page on the website that I hope to create in the future. This Event Calendar would list pop-ups, free grocery stores, farmer’s markets, and other food-related events that happen on certain dates. This would be an up-to-date calendar that people could follow to keep up with the many events that happen all over the city.

Another goal I have for this website is to expand beyond New York City and make this a resource that collects and records information all over the world.
